What this means
- Lengthwise: floor(636 ÷ 48) × floor(100 ÷ 40) = 26.
- Rotated: floor(636 ÷ 40) × floor(100 ÷ 48) = 30.
Assumptions
- Pallets use a uniform rectangular footprint, may be rotated 90°, and require no aisle or securement gap.
- This compares two regular grids; it is not an irregular bin-packing solve. Verify door clearance, stackability, cargo weight and axle distribution.

How many standard pallets fit in a 53-foot trailer?
A common simple-grid result is 26 for 48 in × 40 in pallets, but actual clear dimensions, loading pattern, overhang and securement can change it.
Does the calculator mix pallet orientations?
No. It transparently compares two regular grids. Mixed-orientation bin packing needs a more detailed floor-plan solve.
